GET THE DS LITE
There is a differance between DS and DS Lite. Except that the DS Lite screen is brighter and has 4 settings of brightness. The original has one setting of brightness and not as bright as the Lites. Not even the lowest setting of the brightness in the DS Lite is brighter than the original DS.
The DS lite is much more smaller and much more comfortable to hold than the original. The original has a pretty bad desighn. The lites has and awsome desighn.

Excellent game system and great color!
I had been looking for a DS Lite since before Christmas but couldn’t find them anywhere. I thought for sure that Nintendo was redesigning the platform. I was not disappointed! The stunning blue color and quality of workmanship is great. The ease of playing games especially shared (over wifi) games is incredible. Definitely would recommend!
Lighter, brighter and smaller than the original DS, the Nintendo DS Lite is no less fun! With a variety of new features, brighter screens and adjustable backlighting, the DS Lite sets itself apart from every other hand-held gaming system on the market. More visible LED lights Center microphone Larger stylus for a better grip Easy-to-reach Start and Select buttons Removable cover keeps the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot clear from dust and debris when not in use Color - Crimson Black

You can get lost
I bought this for my wife this past Christmas. I was a little worried about the purchase as she has never played video games. No Atari, no Nintendo, and definitely nothing like the newer gaming consoles. I felt I even had to follow this gift with a nice pair of earrings just in case it didn’t go over well.
When she opened it she was certainly surprised that I would giver her something like this and I believe in the back of her mind she thought it might be more for me. I can understand that as I was intrigued by it as well. I did have the itch to play it. I of course did buy Mario Bros. to relive my old school Nintendo days.
I also bought Brain Age and Sims Castaway for her just to start. After things settled down in the morning and the kids were taking naps she decided to try Sims Castaway. It was extremely easy to set up and navigate the system itself. About an hour goes by and she hasn’t looked up. I even tried to talk to her thinking she was listening to me…not a chance. She didn’t hear a word. She got pulled into this system fast and if you were to meet my wife you would have thought she would be one of the last people to get addicted to a gaming system.
Hands down this was an all time great gift. She still plays it everyday and the optional gaming list is long enough to keep her entertained for awhile.

Great game!
I got this Nintendo DS for my daughter after my son got one for his birthday and she was always wanting to borrow it. She loves the pink with the paw print on it and the Nintendogs game is her favorite (she has some Disney princess ones as well). She can play with this game for hours and hours (if I let her!). Highly recommend for anyone with young children (my kids are 6 and 9, girl and boy) and they both LOVE this game. Nice to have a game that is teaching taking care of something instead of blowing it up! Your child will not be disappointed with this game. Also it is perfect if you have a boy and girl as they can share!
It’s less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and more than 20 percent lighter
Its two bright screens can be adjusted to four levels to adapt to different lighting conditions and to extend battery power
The microphone sits in the center of the unit, and the LED lights are clearly visible whether the unit is open or closed
The stylus is 1 centimeter longer and 1 millimeter thicker than the stylus of the original, and slides into a side storage slot
The Start and Select buttons were repositioned for easier access
